Caring For The Elderly With Telemedicine

Elderly are people who have become too old and have many difficulties in leading their day to day lives. Most of the elderly today suffer from hearing loss, loss of vision, loss of memory, physical disability and several more problems. Also, they are very weak and even if they recover from any disability, they still are going to be weak.

There are several kinds of telemedicine that are used for the treatment and management of the elderly. The use of wheelchair or an arm chair is a fine example of the usage of telemedicine and is designed using information and communication technology. What does telemedicine actually do? It combines the use of innovative medical technologies with the help of biomedical sensors and integrates with the medical technology in such a way that it can check, follow up and change based on medical parameters.

For example, an armchair is just an armchair which helps a person to stay mobile. However, an armchair designed for telemeds is not just any armchair and it actually takes care of several things for the user and not only mobility. The armchair can measure several medical parameters when the user sits on it and uses it. It not only increases the user’s mobility but also constantly monitors their health and well being. The arm chair just one single example; however, there are hundreds of such devices in the pipeline which can actually bring the medical industry to the elderly even at times when they cannot reach out.
