What Generations Came After The Baby Boomers ?

          The generations that came after baby boomers include -- Generation Jones, Generation X, Generation XY Cusp, Boomerang Generation, Generation Y, iGeneration, and the most recent Generation Z.

Generation Jones implies the generation of people born between the Baby Boomers and Generation X, that is those people who are born between the mid-1950s and mid-1960s. They are usually referred to as Jonesers or as GenJonesers in the U.S., U.K., Western Europe, Australia and in New Zealand.

 

Generation X, also known as the 13th Generation or as the Baby Busters, refers to the generation born between mid-1960s and 1980. Most of the people of this generation are usually considered as being apathetic, cynical, skeptical, loners and idlers, pessimistic, alienated and do not trust the traditional values and institutions. However, this generation is also noted for the highly entrepreneurial and techno savvy individuals who have contributed to the growth of Internet such as -- the founders of Amazon, Dell, Google, MySpace, Wikipedia and Yahoo.


 
XY Cusp Generation, also referred to as the MTV Generation or as the Doom Generation, is used to describe those people who were born between mid-70s and mid-80s. This generation was considered as highly ambitious, and motivated, but directionless. This generation saw the introduction of MTV, the rise of the mass media and web technology circa '95.
 
Boomerang Generation, is also known as the Generation ‘Why’ and describes people born between 1977 and 1989. Many people of this generation, after a brief period of living on their own (attending college or taking up a job), usually prefer to return home to their parents, while taking care to continue with their own social and professional lives.

Generation Y, also known as the Echo Boom, or Millennium Generation, is used to describe people born after Generation X, usually comprising of the people born in the 1980s and 1990s. Most of the people belonging to this generation are considered to be rude, rebellious, demanding, and impatient. However, there are several instances wherein their energy levels and charisma gains them great appreciation.

 

iGeneration, or the Internet generation, is used to describe the sub-generation comprising of later born members of Generation Y(1991-1999) and early born members of Generation Z (2000-2005).

 

Generation Z is the youngest of all the generations so far.
