Generation X And Christianity

The Generation X varies from one end of the age spectrum to the other end. They are perhaps the widest generation one can ever see. Generation X is very different when it comes to any other generation. It has been noticed that the religious attitude of people who were born in the early beginnings of generation X and that is in the 1960s were more religious. However, the religiosity within this generation was found to be dwindling as they progressed towards the 70s.

People who were born in the 70s rarely visited the church and never attended even a Sunday school. The rarely worshipped except in times of crisis or they never expressed interest in any religious causes.

When the generation X was growing up it was the beginning of the television era and they grew up with the music boom and also the boom in arts and culture. The generation X was found to worship music and fine arts more than religion. Television was the biggest attraction and also gave them plenty to do. Religion was the least of the priority for this generation. Also, while the generation X was growing up there was a steady growth in the divorce rates and the divorce has left several scars in their upbringing. It could also have probably encouraged the generation X to stay single or delay child births due to the divorce rates.

Religion did not play a very important role in the United States of America during the 1970s and so generation X on the whole is not very religious.
