How Much Does A Chemical Peel Cost ?

Chemical peels are the most popular and convenient skin resurfacing cosmetic procedure. A chemical peel can be described as a non-invasive cosmetic treatment technique that is used to improve the texture of facial skin using a chemical solution.

The chemical solution used during the process causes the skin to blister and peel off. Chemical peel treatment promotes cell growth and produces a smoother and clearer skin having a youthful appearance. This treatment can be used to treat damages caused to the skin because of sun exposure, pollutants, acne and scarring. Chemical peels are also used to treat conditions such as melasma and pre-cancerous skin growths.

Chemical skin peel is not an exorbitantly expensive treatment method. However, the cost of the treatment is dependant on several factors. Some of these include the type of chemical being used, professional qualification and experience of the surgeon performing the peel and the facility at which the treatment is being done.

The type of chemical being used for a chemical peel is the most important factor that determines the overall cost of the procedure. Chemical peels are classified into mild, medium and deep treatments. Mild treatments are done using glycolic acid peels and are effective to remove superficial scars, fine lines and wrinkles. Medium treatments are done using Trichloroacetic acid. Deep treatments involve use of phenol and target more severe problems such as coarse wrinkles, pre-cancerous growths and prominent scars. Each procedure is different and has a separate cost depending on the chemical used. In general, a mild treatment averages from $150 to $300. Medium treatment involving a full-face chemical peel costs between $1,000 and $2,000. In both the treatment procedures, multiple treatment sessions are required.

A deep treatment is a one-time procedure. It is a bit expensive procedure where the average treatment costs range from $2,500 to $6,500. Costs include the cost of the chemical, consultation charges, anesthetic and medication.

In most cases, a chemical peel is not covered under health insurance except when the skin is being treated for precancerous skin growths.
