Physical Stages Of Dying

When a person is dying, his physical, mental and sensory functions start shutting down one by one. Sometimes the shutting down process can happen in few months or in few minutes. There are physical stages of dying and these can be ascertained when the person is dying slowly due to an illness or old age.

Before the person reaches the final physical stages of dying, his body has to prepare itself. During this stage the person first starts withdrawing from activities and then becomes restless. This is the time when he might tell friends and relatives that he knows he is dying and may want to talk about tying up loose ends and making arrangements for his funeral. This is also the time when infections and wounds will not heal, the person will reduce his fluid in-take and food, and there might be swelling in the arms and legs. This stage will last for around 2 weeks after which the person will reach the physical stages of dying.
