Senior Health Insurance In The Us

Senior health insurance in the US is part of the universal health insurance that the nation offers to individuals and legal places of employment. When a senior take health insurance in the US, he is entitled to inpatient and outpatient treatments that are offered by hospitals, which can be commercial, governmental or charitable hospitals.

The bad news about senior health insurance in the US and health insurance for everyone else is that the insurance is not funded completely by the government. Instead, seniors have to partially fund their health insurance by paying monthly premiums. Basically, the healthcare system in the US is partly funded by public funding and partly by private.

Although the US spends a considerable amount on healthcare, more than any nation, there are still loopholes in the system. Unfortunately many seniors are unable to buy senior health insurance in the US due to escalating costs or they just do not qualify for a policy because insurance companies take the applicant's age into consideration when approving a policy.

Senior health insurance in the US is primarily Medicare, which seniors are entitled to once they reach the age of 65. This is a basic health insurance package under the aegis of the federal government. Usually senior health insurance is paid by Medicare and for those seniors who cannot afford to pay for medical treatment can avail of Medicaid. Usually Medicaid take care of health coverage if a senior receives Supplemental Security Incomes, also known as SSI, has a large medical bill and meets the income requirements.
