Some of common symptoms that appear initially when an elderly has end stage renal failure are as follows:
- Weight loss without trying to lose weight
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Puritis or itching of the body
- Hiccups that occur very frequently
However, as the end stage failure progresses, more symptoms develop. These symptoms are increase or decrease in urination, confusion, lethargy, drowsiness, blood in vomit or stools, cramps, seizures, twitching of muscles, neuropathy, formation of white crystals on the skin, and coma.
The elderly person might also display some other symptoms which not all seniors will develop. These symptoms of end stage renal failure in the elderly are as follows:
- Increase in urination during the night
- Experiencing a lot of thirst
- Bad breath
- Loss of appetite
- Hypertension
- Abnormalities in the structure of nails
- Abnormality in the skin color -- the skin turns either light or dark
